BlizzCon 2009 announced!

Even though BlizzCon 2009 was just announced, I'm already excited for it. Last year's ticket debacle made me lose nearly a whole day of productivity and the convention itself was fairly packed, but I still had a ton of fun and so did the wife. We're both fairly casual World of Warcraft players but it's still nice to be able to get our nerd on with fellow gamers for a couple of days out of the year.

While BlizzCon is still a little over 6 months away, I've already made preparations. I've requested the time off work and booked our two night stay at the Marriott that is literally right up against the convention center. We always get a hotel room for BlizzCon, even though we live maybe 10 minutes away. It's nice to be able to just walk to the room after the convention. This year we're staying about a mile closer and we're checking in the night before the event itself. Ticket pickup the day before is an annoying and tiring event (especially since the staff working the "S" line never seem to be organized) and it will be nice to walk a few feet to the hotel and just relax afterward. This convenience costs nearly three times as much per night as our previous hotel that we've used, but I think it will be well worth it.

All we need now is tickets to BlizzCon, which currently have no official sale date. I'm confident that I'll be able to get tickets without a problem though. If you went to BlizzCon last year, you know how impossible it was to get tickets the day they went on sale but I was able to do it. The year before was quite pleasant and I had tickets within minutes of them going on sale.

Hopefully Blizzard learned from their massive mistake last year and they have revamped their online store and servers to be better able to handle the load of the huge number of Blizzard fans trying to get tickets. I can only imagine that it will go much more smoothly than last year and if I was able to get tickets then I shouldn't have a problem getting them now. Oh, and they scored yet another hall in the convention center itself. I believe that Blizzard will now control the entire Anaheim Convention Center for the two day event. That just means more tickets, more stuff to do, more lines, and most definitely more fun.
